My Other Ch9

I smiled and pushed my body up to his. “Thanks but not quite…” I motioned with my head towards my legs.
Shadow bowed his head, “ah, yes. Sorry.”
I chuckled. “C’mon! I want to get downstairs so we can eat and get moving!” I shouted like a child.

“alright, alright!” he placed his hands on my shoulders, “Come then, lets get you fed so you can shut up.”
I played along by acting hurt and starting to fake some tears… but I failed miserably since Shadow had the audacity to full a face and make me laugh.
“HEY!” I shouted and shoved him. “no fair!”
he smirked, “I can tell when you’re faking, faker. ”

He picked me up and placed me into my wheelchair at the bottom of the staircase before pushing me out into the world.

We had stopped at a small stall and got some breakfast… that is if you call a chocolate croissant breakfast.
Shadow was happily pushing me along while I did nothing but stare up at him…
“Shadow?”
“hmmm?”
I pondered for a brief moment before asking, “Do you miss Maria?”
I felt him slow his pace down… before stopping completely. He sighed, “yes, I still do.”
I looked into his eyes, “do you think she’s safe?”
Shadow closed his eyes, “yes.” He muttered. “why do you ask?”
I turned my attention to a piece of lint of my glove that was suddenly quite interesting.
“ï’m just asking. ‘sall…”  I plucked at the lint and let my eyes look back at him, “would you miss me if I died?”

I felt his hand twitch that was under my quill.
“Why would you ask such a thing?” he stuttered, seeming caught.
“Just want to know.” I laughed light heartedly.
Shadow lifted his hands and stroked at my quills, “Well if you must know, I guess I… would…”

I smiled brightly, ‘so he does care!’, “I’d miss you too.” I said softly but just loud enough for him to hear.
“hmph, thanks… Sonic.”

We stopped in the park on our way back, Shadow wanted to rest.

I was playing with a leaf that had fallen onto my head and I was determined to do something with it- that was until I heard some voices… very familiar ones.

“Sonic~!” I heard three voices cry out.

I turned my head around. There were Amy, Knuckles and Tails running towards me.
‘no…!’ I frantically looked for Shadow- I HAD to get out of here now!
‘Shadow! Shadow, where are you!’ I was screaming in my head.

Shadow was no where in sight.

This triggered something in me. ‘he left me… he LEFT ME!’
small tears caused by sheer anxiety began to trickle down my face. “sh-adow…” I chocked out before beginning to wail.

Shadow was walking back from the other side of the small lake, back from the small dinner, when he saw Sonic being crowded.

“Sonic!” he shouted and ran towards the group.

----

“Sonic, why are you crying?” Amy asked.
“we’ve been worried sick about you! You idiot!” Knuckles added.
“Sonic, why didn’t you contact us!“ Tails remarked.

Sonic sat there crying like the lost child he was right now. Hands covering his eyes with his body shacking…

“Sonic!” Shadow shouted and shoved Amy away.
“Sonic, sonic are you okay?” Shadow moved closer to him and embraced him in a warm hug.
“Sh-adow?” Sonic looked up to see his blood-red eyes.

“yeah, I’m here. What’s wrong?” Shadow pressed on.
He looked down, “I thought you left me…”
Shadow looked at him, “Why would I do that? ”

A small cough brought Shadow’s attention to the threesome standing around them.
“oh. What do you bimbo’s want?” Shadow remarked swiftly.

“What did you do to my Sonikku?!”
“I did nothing!” Shadow shouted back to the pink menace.

“Then why is he crying!?” all three asked.
Shadow looked down at the sniffing blue blur in his arms, “because he feels vulnerable, scared and defenceless. ”
“why?” Tails asked.
“He…” Shadow passed and nuzzled Sonic’s cheek, “has brain damage- he can no longer move his legs.”
Sonic buried his face deeper into Shadow’s chest.

“I’m sorry Sonic….” Shadow whispered before picking him up and placing him in the chair.

“And where do you think you’re taking him!?” Amy yelled, outraged.
“Home. My home… our home.” He smiled and looked down at Sonic who’d fallen asleep.

‘Today’s events…’ Shadow pondered, ‘really took a toll  on Sonic’s system. He really isn’t built up for that any more. ’ He looked down. ‘shame, he looks so peaceful. He’s probably running around in that head of his.’

The door to the house was opened and they were greeted by the warm air. Winter was at its peek now- especially at night.

Shadow placed Sonic down in the bed and covered him up before departing for bed too.

‘I promise Sonic,’ Shadow snuggled close up to him, ‘I promise- I wont ever let you go. I’ll be there by you always.’

3 days left…>>>

We had actually slept most of the next day and some of yesterday again. Ah yes lazy days! I wish Shadow had more lazy days!

I was lying on the couch when Shadow decided to walk in.
“c’mon, lets go.”
“where to?”  I asked innocently.
“the shower- both of us haven’t showered in 2 days and you know you reek!”

I chuckled- couldn't argue with Shadow on that one!
Shadow picked me up and began to walk to the bathroom.

“hey Shadow?”
“yeah Sonic?”
I hummed a little bit before replying, “Think about it- in some way, you’re kind of like My Other legs? Hey?”
Shadow laughed low, “I suppose so, but come, lets get you showered, you reek! I swear even sewer rats smell better than you!”

I scoffed, “pah-lease! Don’t make me laugh! You smell so bad, you’re the cause for the ozone layer dissipating!”

It was then I learnt not to insult Shadow…  I still have pieces of soap stuck in my teeth.
